The Great Smoky Mountains and Blue Ridge Mountains… just love the blanketing of “smoke” wisps over the mountains as it settles in the valleys and gives the mountains a mystical presence. The Cherokee Indians referred to this “blue smoke” as “Shaconage,” pronounced  Sha-Kon-O-Hey, which means “the place or land of blue smoke.”
